#207 I get sad as soon as I hear the sound of insects,…

作品:わがために
Size:about 33×24 cm

What kind of verse?

verse:Wa ga tame ni, kuru aki ni shimo, ara naku ni, mushi no ne kike ba, madu zo kanashi ki
(imho):I get sad as soon as I hear the sound of insects, even though it’s not autumn for me.
poet:unknown
in:before 913

It was said that the poet had become sentimental, mistakenly believing she had been abandoned by her lover. FYI, in Japanese, ”to grow tired of” (aki-ru) has the same pronunciation as ”autumn” (aki).

brief comment

I designed the pattern and lettering of a burnet blood, evoking the arrival of autumn, to resonate with each other, and aimed to guide the viewer’s gaze naturally toward this understated yet beautiful autumn flower.

Also, the shape of the character ‘九’ (ku) at the very top of the page resemble a bell cricket, don’t you?

I would be delighted if you could peacefully savor the charm of autumn through this piece.
