#019 Summer nights …

作品:くるるかと

Size: about 34×25 cm
Dressing framed

What kind of verse?

verse: Kururukato, mireba akenuru natsu no yo wo, akazu toya naku, yama hototogisu
(imho): Summer nights that dawn soon after sunset, you call having an unsatisfied feeling, Japanese cuckoo.
poet: Mibu, Tadamine
in: 9th-10th century

It’s like a verse of love, lamenting that it’s a short summer night, that is, lovers spend less time together.
It’s seems that “akazu” means both of not dawing and not getting tired in Japanese. How technical!

In this work, a paper with a pattern of dayflowers was used.
It is best match for this verse because dayflowers bloom only in early morning in summer.
