#160 Autumn is especially depressing in human villages deep in the mountains..
What verse?
verse: |
Wakeiri te, dare ka ha hito no, tadunu beki, iwa kage kusa no, shigeru yamadi wo |
(imho): |
Will someone climb over the rocks and cut through the grass and seek me out and ask me? That could never happen. |
poet: |
Saigyo |

Note
The “hito” which means someone must be Saigyo himself. He liveed alone and quietly in a mountain village “yamazato”, and had no friends to talk to. I wonder if he once in a while looked objectively at himself enduring the loneliness and decided to compose this poem with self-mockery and love for him.
