When the retired Emperor visited the Oi River, he said, “The autumn leaves are so beautiful that it would be a good idea for Emperor Daigo to visit here as well.” It is said that when Prince Tadahira heard this, he said, “Let us convey the Retired Emperor’s wishes to the Emperor,” and composed this poem.
This is a popular poem due to cntainined in Hyakunin Isshu which is known by all Japanese people.
