This is a most famous poem of Saigyo Hoshi. He loved cherry blossoms so much and created a lot of poems about this blossoms, and in the end he even wanted to die under the cherry blossoms.
In fact, Saigyo Hoshi died on February 16th. Old documents say intellectuals in those days were deeply impressed by this event.
