brief comment

This is the third time to write this poem.

This time, I wrote the piece in two vertical lines on a hansetsu—a large-format sheet measuring 136 cm in height and 35 cm in width. Placing each character carefully while attending to the rhythm between ink and empty space felt entirely different from my previous approaches.

It’s fascinating how the same poem can take on a completely different character depending on the layout, paper size, and movement of the brush.

I imagine I’ll continue to return to this poem from time to time. And each time, I look forward to seeing the new expressions it reveals.
