brief comment

This work was exhibited at the Interior Calligraphy Exhibition held at the end of November 2024.

Someone remarked, “From a distance, it looks like willow branches drooping over the surface of the water.” What a beautifully poetic observation! Hearing such thoughtful feedback makes me feel that the intentions and effort I poured into this piece have truly resonated.

For this work, I focused not only on the beauty of each individual character but also on achieving a sense of balance and harmony that allows it to be appreciated as a painting when viewed as a whole. Since the piece was designed to be an interior element, I paid particular attention to the flow of the brushstrokes, the arrangement of the characters, and the use of space.

Beyond the form and rhythm of the characters themselves, I sought to create a sense of harmony and movement in the empty spaces, hoping it would evoke gentle ripples in the viewer’s heart. Receiving feedback like this reassures me that my work is appreciated not only as “calligraphy” but also as “art” that can be enjoyed on multiple levels.

Moving forward, I aim to continue creating pieces that harmonize the beauty of individual characters with the overall balance of the composition.
